THE SOWER: SHARE THE GOSPEL

Speaker: Fred Sigle

SUNDAY LESSON, 9/17/23

THE SOWER: SHARE THE GOSPEL
Matthew 13:1-9

Last Sunday I shared with you plans that the elders and ministers are formulating to go out in the Bean Creek Neighborhood to knock door and meet our neighbors face-to-face with the deliberate purpose of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.  The details have not been worked out (we want to do this right), but we are hoping to kickoff this outreach effort in the spring of next year.
Now, I realize that door-knocking is not for everyone, and not everyone is expected to participate in this effort.  But what is for every follower of Jesus Christ is the privilege of sharing the good news of Christ wherever we go.  Everyone can be a “seed spreader.”  That is the emphasis of the parable that Jesus shares with the crowd and, most importantly, with His disciples.
Come join us Sunday as we delve into this Parable of the Sower to learn what our responsibility is in sharing the gospel of Christ with those we know.  And next week we will look at the four responses to the gospel of Christ as we study the soils.
MATTHEW 13:1-9
That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Whoever has ears, let them hear.”
