TAME YOUR THOUGHTS: TEARING DOWN STRONGHOLDS
2 Corinthians 10:3-5

In the spring of 1992, I and seven other preachers were privileged to be the second temporary mission team to go into southern Czechoslovakia (now known as Slovak Republic) to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.   During the 10 weeks our team was there; I had the opportunity to visit several castles and small villages that were built during the middle ages—around the 13th to 15th  centuries.    Many of these castles or citadels were built on hills or sides of a mountain surrounded by tall and thick walls that have since been torn down over the centuries.  Each of these citadels were built as strongholds (fortresses) to protect the residents inside from the attacks of invading enemies.
In our text, the Apostle Paul writes about “strongholds” that our enemy—the devil, has erected in our minds.  These strongholds, however, are not meant to keep the enemy out but are false arguments, philosophies, pride, and mental worldviews that oppose the knowledge of God.  Satan wants us to believe lies about God and about ourselves as God’s children.  He wants to keep us in fear, doubt and deceived as he attempts to undermine the Truth of God’s Word.   Paul wants his readers to understand that regardless of how fortified these strongholds are in our minds, God provides spiritual weapons to break through and tear them down.
Come join us Sunday as we learn how to defeat Satan and tear down the mental strongholds in the battle of our minds.
2 CORINTHIANS 10:3-5
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
