BUILDING STRONGER RELATIONSHIPS:
TAKING PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
2 Corinthians 10:5; Philippians 4:2-8; Ephesians 4:26-27, 31-32
We are continuing our New Year Sermon Series: BUILDING STRONGER RELATIONSHIPS. Although we are created for three relationships, with God, with others, and with self, we are to TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY to help strengthen these relationships. Strong, healthy relationships do not come naturally, not even our relationship with God. We are innately selfish people who want things done our way, which invariably puts a strain on our relationships—including the one with ourselves that is often destructive.
This Sunday we will learn from God’s Word some personal actions that will help make our relationships stronger—starting with our thought process. Regardless of where you are in your relationships, God’s Word provides counsel to make them stronger and healthier. Come join us for worship this Sunday.

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
PHILIPPIANS 4:2-8
I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. 3 Yes, and I ask you, my true companion, help these women since they have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life.
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
EPHESIANS 4:26-27, 31-32
In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold.
31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
