SPIRITUAL MATURITY: GROWING IN CHRIST (2)
selected passages from the book of James
James has much to say about spiritual maturity. The truth is, we will never reach a point in our spiritual lives where we no longer have room for growth. Growing in Christ is a life long process.
Last Sunday we studied what a mature Christian looks like from the book of James.
A mature Christian…
1). Perseveres Under Pressure (James 1:2-4)
2). Obeys God’s Word (James 1:22-25)
3). Loves All People (James 2:1-9)
This week we look at three more areas:
4). Watches His/Her Mouth (James 3:2, 1:19)
5). Is A Peacemaker (James 3:18-4:1)
6). Admits His/Her Sin Problem (James 5:16)
James 3:2, 1:19
3:2 We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.
1:19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,
James 3:18-4:1
3:18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness
4:1 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?
James 5:16
16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
