OVERCOMER: YOU ARE CHOSEN!
1 Peter 1:9-10
From the time when light penetrated the darkness for the first time, and God was beginning to create the rest of the universe and the earth we live on, He was thinking of you. You are chosen by God!
Our Omniscient (all-knowing) God knew from the beginning of time the day and very hour the you and I would turn our lives over the Jesus and be saved. And with our acceptance of Jesus Christ as our Savior, we have been given a New Identity in Christ. When people of the world struggle with answering the question, “Who are you?”, we know exactly who we are in Christ and what that privilege entails.
The Apostle Peter addresses Christians whom have been scattered all over the northern part of Asia Minor. Many were undergoing sever suffering for their faith in Jesus, resulting in questioning if living for Christ was worth it. Peter, in no uncertain terms, reminds them who they are in Christ and the responsibility their Identity in Christ entails.
Today’s Christians are facing pressure from society to rethink who they are in Christ, which has resulted in many leaving the church and has squelched evangelistic efforts to reach the lost for Christ. WHO ARE YOU?
1 Peter 2:9-10
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
