OVERCOMER: YOU ARE BROKEN!
Matthew 26:69-75 and John 21:15-17
We continue the sermon series and small group Bible study OVERCOMER about our identity in Christ that asks the question: “WHO ARE YOU?”. Our lesson title this Sunday is: “You Are Broken”.
Have you ever experienced “brokenness”–a point in your life where everything seems to be crashing down on top of you? It may be the result of extremely difficult circumstances over which you have no control. It could be the result of sin in your life, choices you make to that not only result in blatant disobedience to your Heavenly Father but lead to devastating consequences.
In Sunday’s lesson we will see the brokenness of one of Jesus beloved disciples and dearest friend as a result of sin. Peter adamantly told Jesus that he would never do it, but the night his Lord was arrested he denied even knowing Him, not once but three times. After the rooster crowed, Peter’s experienced a brokenness so deep and devastating that all he could do was weep bitterly.
