LIFE LESSONS FROM PSALMS: DESPONDENCY

SUNDAY LESSON. 11/12/23

LIFE LESSONS FROM PSALMS: DESPONDENCY
Psalm 13
This Sunday we will be studying one of my favorite psalms written by David, Psalm 13, as we look at how David dealt with DESPONDENCY during some of the most difficult years of his life—when he was running from King Saul set on killing him.
I suppose why I like this psalm so much is because David expresses many of the emotions I have experienced during my “blue days”.  He begins this short Psalm questioning God’s love for him and ends praising God for His unfailing love.  Yes, I have been there, and I’m sure many of you have as well.  That is why this Psalm is so relatable.
Come join us Sunday as we study how David was able to move from despondency to esctasy.
PSALM 13

How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and day after day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?

Look on me and answer, Lord my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death,
and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,”
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.

But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing the Lord’s praise,
for he has been good to me.
