JESUS' LAST WORDS: "I AM THIRSTY"

Speaker: Fred Sigle

SUNDAY LESSON, 4/3/22

JESUS’ LAST WORDS: “I AM THIRSTY.”
John 19:28-30

We have all uttered the phrase “I am thirsty” at one time or another.  Knowing what Jesus went through for the past several hours, we are not surprised by these last words of Jesus.  But I think these words of Christ say far more than what we might first imagine.
I believe there is both a physical and spiritual meaning to this simple phrase.  Being both God and man, these words speak to the human side of Jesus as well as the Divine side.
Come join us Sunday as we delve into both the physical and spiritual meaning of the Jesus’ words “I am thirsty”, and how they apply to us.
JOHN 19:28-30
28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
