SUNDAY LESSON, 4/9/23 (EASTER)
“I AM . . . THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE“
Luke 11:1-44
On Resurrection Sunday we will be studying the fifth “I AM” statement of Jesus as recorded in the Gospel of John, “I AM THE RESSURECTION AND THE LIFE”.
Knowing that within a couple of weeks He will be hanging on a cross; Jesus goes to Bethany to comfort the sisters of his good friend Lazarus who had died and to perform a miracle that confirms that He is God in the flesh who has power over death. Although Lazarus had been dead for four days, Jesus calls him by name and he comes walking out of the tomb.
In a matter of days, the followers of Christ will be going through the most difficult ordeal of their lives. They will watch as their Lord is arrested, tried, beaten and crucified. They will see his lifeless body placed in a tomb. All the hope they had in Jesus as the promised Messiah will be dashed. What they misunderstood is that the resurrection of Lazarus was only a precursor to the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Come join us Easter Sunday for breakfast at 9:00 and worship at 10:00 as we study in depth the statement of Jesus, “I AM THE RESSURECTION AND THE LIFE”.
JOHN 11:25-26
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
