SUNDAY LESSON, 3/9/25
REVISITING OUR MISSION: GROW IN CHRIST
Hebrews 5:11-14; 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (various passages)
We are in week two of REVISITING OUR MISSION. This week we will be studying the importance of Bible study as a means to help us GROW IN CHRIST.
When I was in Bible school training to be a preacher, I took a speed-reading class. It came in handy while doing research for the many of the papers that I had to write. Dr. Jim McGuiggan, one of my Bible professors, taught the class. On the first day of the class, he told us students that although we will find speed-reading beneficial in our college studies, there are two things that we should never speed-read: “Love letters and the Bible.”
None of us would ever even think of skimming through a letter given to us by the love of our life. Instead, we would pore over its contents and read and re-read it searching for every nuance of meaning we could possibly glean from between the lines. In fact, the Bible is a “love letter” revealing God’s heart to us, and the more carefully, frequently and thoughtfully we read it, the more we will grasp His loving intentions toward us.
Come join us this Sunday as we learn why it is not only important but imperative that we delve into God’s Word to learn how we can grow in our relationship with Him and His Son Jesus.
Hebrews 5:11-14
We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. 12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! 13 Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
