SUNDAY LESSON, 9/4/22
GOD’S AMAZING GRACE: WHAT IT IS
Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 John 1:7
We began a new sermon series last Sunday titled: “GOD’S AMAZING GRACE”.
We began the series by studying “WHAT GACE IS NOT”. God’s grace is only amazing if we do not cheapen it as some did in the early church (Jude 3-4). God’s grace is a free gift, but, sadly, there are those who refuse it and abuse it.
This Sunday we will be studying “WHAT GRACE IS”. Although God’s grace is a gift extended to us, it was not cheap. It was purchased by the death of God’s Son on the cross and given to us freely out of our Father’s love for us–as undeserving as we are. God’s grace, His unmerited favor, is not a reward for human effort, but is based entirely on who God is and who we are in Him.
ROMANS 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[a] Christ Jesus our Lord.
EPHESIANS 2:8-9
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
1 JOHN 1:7
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all[a] sin.
