SUNDAY LESSON, 7/28/24
GALATIANS: FREEDOM IN CHRIST
CLOTHED WITH CHRIST
Galatians 3:26-29
Continuing our summer sermon series on the book of Galatians: FREEDOM IN CHRIST. Paul is writing the Galatian Christians accusing them of “turning to a different gospel” (Galatians 1:6) by turning from grace to woks of the Law. He stresses throughout this letter that their works cannot save them; they are saved only by grace through faith.
This raises questions about the role of baptism in one’s salvation. Is baptism a work of man? Is it essential for salvation? Will a person be saved if he or she refuses to be baptized?
Come join us this Sunday as we look at what Scripture says about the role of baptism in one’s salvation, and what Paul tells the Galatians (and all Christians) what transpired when they (and we) were clothed with Christ through baptism.
GALATIANS 3:26-29
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
