DON’T FORGET GOD’S BENEFITS
Psalm 103
America will celebrate another Thanksgiving next Thursday. Frankly, the events of 2020 has made it more difficult for Americans to be thankful.
Along with the pandemic that has taken over 200,000 lives and resulted in millions of people losing their jobs, Americans have dealt with church closings, racial tension, rioting and looting, a presidential election that is still being contested, and there is still have another month to go before this year is over.
It’s during times like these that we tend to FORGET GOD’S BENEFITS. King David doesn’t want to forget. In fact, he wrote a song to remind him not to forget God’s benefits. The greatest benefit that he lists is God’s love for us even though we are so insignificant from a worldly perspective.
Psalm 103:1-5
Praise the Lord, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—
3 who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
5 who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—
3 who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
5 who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
