CHRISTIAN BENEFITS: GOD IS ON OUR SIDE
Romans 8:31-37

We are continuing our study on CHRISTIAN BENEFITS that Paul defines in Romans 8.  The fourth Christian benefit that Paul outlines in this chapter is “GOD IS ON OUR SIDE”.
It is an amazing thing to come to the stark realization that God, who just spoke this universe into existence, is on our side.  Let’s face it, the things of life can easily get us down. From being in the middle of bad circumstances to having to deal with the constant onslaught of temptation.  Day-to-day life can often feel overwhelming.
Here’s the thing we have to keep reminding ourselves, we will never be free from problems and troubles in life. However, Paul wants the Christians at Rome and for us to understand that although we will never be without problems and temptation nor will we be without God.  “God is for us”.  And since God is for ussince He is on our side, the apostle poses the question, “Who can be against us?”

I pity any foe that tries to come between us and God.  Although difficulties and temptation may seem to be getting the upper hand in your life, Paul assures the Christian that ultimately God will not allow His chosen to be defeated by anything that Satan may throw at us.  The apostle will go on to say, as we will study next week, “we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37).
ROMANS 8:31-37

31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long;
    we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”[a]

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
