CHOOSING TO FORGIVE

SUNDAY LESSON, 1/26/25
BUILDING STRONGER RELATIONSHIPS:
CHOOSING TO FORGIVE
Ephesians 4:32; Colossians 3:13; Matthew 6:14-15; Luke 17:3b-5
A preacher cannot present lessons on BUILDING STRONGER RELATIONSHIPS without including a sermon on CHOOSING TO FORGIVE.  The reason is because we sin against each other, even in our most intimate relationships.  When we sin against others, we are to seek the person’s forgiveness.  When someone sins against us and asks for our forgiveness, we are to forgive them.
Now, I know there are some situations where that might be difficult to do, but the Bible commands us to forgive whether it is easy or difficult.  Since forgiveness does not come naturally, we have to choose to forgive regardless of how we have been hurt.
So, what does it mean to forgive?   What does forgiveness look like?  What does it convey to the person that we choose to forgive?
Come join us Sunday as we delve into what Biblical forgiveness “IS NOT” and what “IT IS”.
EPHESIANS 4:32
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
COLOSSIANS 3:13
Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
MATTHEW 6:14-15
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
LUKE 17:3-5

So watch yourselves.

“If your brother or sister[a] sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”

The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”
