We continue our summer sermon series on CHRIST’S CHOSEN. This Sunday we will be studying about the Apostle John.
We know that John was part of Jesus’ inner circle among the apostles, but it also appears that he was Jesus’ closest friend. John even referred to himself as “the disciple whom Jesus loved” (John 13:23, 19:26, 20:2, 21:17, 20). I don’t believe the self-description was meant to elevate the apostle John above the others, but to emphasize the transforming love that Jesus had on his life that changed him from a “son of thunder” (Mark 3:17) to an “apostle of love”.
