SUNDAY LESSON, 10/15/23
WHEN YOUR WAY ISN’T WORKING: THE WAY OF CONNECTION
John 15:4-5; Acts 9:1-19
This Sunday will mark the third week in our fall sermon series and small group study “WHEN YOUR WAY ISN’T WORKING”. Our core passage in this study is John 15:1-8 where Jesus, in describing Himself as “the vine and we the branches”.
The emphasis of this final discourse that Jesus is having with His disciples shortly before going to the cross is that they REMAIN IN HIM. Even as branches cannot bear fruit unless they stay connected to the vine, neither can we bear fruit unless we stay connected to Jesus.
This Sunday we will be looking at the life of Saul of Tarsus (apostle Paul) from his violent disconnection from TO his sacrificial connection to Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God. And as Paul stressed that if God could save him “the worst of sinners” (1 Timothy 1:13-16), then anyone can be saved and find connection to Jesus Christ.
