SUNDAY LESSON, 5/28/23
FAITH VS FEAR: THE EFFECTS OF FAITH
Hebrews 11:1; Numbers 14; Joshua 1:5-9
Last week we saw how fear prevented the children of Israel from taking the land of Canaan that God had promised to give their forefather Abraham.
The twelve spies sent by Moses to investigate the land, reported that it was everything that God had promised—”a land flowing with milk and honey.” Yet, ten of the spies were afraid of the occupants in the land who were of “great size” and convinced the whole assembly that they could not take the land, and were made to wander in the desert for 40 years until that generation died off. The only spies, Joshua and Caleb, who had faith that with God on their side they could take the land, were the only two of the twelve allowed entrances into the promised land.
Last Sunday we studied how “THE EFFECTS OF FEAR” prevent us from accomplishing the tasks that God has given us. This Sunday we will study “THE EFFECTS OF FAITH” on those who faithfully move beyond their fears to accomplish God’s mission for His church.
