REVIVAL OR EMOTIONALISM
Psalm 51:10 and selected passages
Wow, the Holy Spirit has a way of changing plans!
I had been working on another lesson to preach this Sunday, and had most of it done. But then almost every time I turn on the news or get on the Internet, something about the “Asbury Revival” taking place in a small town in Kentucky, kept appearing. Although I read a few posts on Facebook about what was happening at Asbury University, I decided to dig much deeper into what this hoopla was really about.
So, is this movement that began on February 8th in the regular morning chapel that the students of Asbury University have been attending every weekday from day one of college, a genuine revival or manufactured emotionalism?
Well, after reading what the university has written about it and what others have written and said about it who had been there to witness it for themselves, including my conversation with Andrew Hamilton who was there last week, God just put it on my heart that I need to preach about this amazing phenomenon.
PSALM 51:10
“Create in me a pure heart, O God; and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
