BEING A MOM IN A DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY

Speaker: Fred Sigle

SUNDAY LESSON, 5/9/21
BEING A MOM IN A DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY
Acts 16:1; 2 Timothy 1:5
Do you have a perfect family, or was raised in a perfect family? Neither do I, nor was I. If truth be told, all of our families are somewhat dysfunctional in one way or another. But that certainly doesn’t mean we cannot let Christ rule in our families and be seen in our lives.
For Mother’s Day, we are going to study about a woman who was a good Mom in a dysfunctional family. Eunice was a Christian and her husband was an unbeliever who more than likely served other gods. Yet, despite the obvious religious conflict and social dysfunction that must have been in that home, Eunice, with the help of her mother Lois, raised a boy who became not only a faithful Christian but a dedicated preacher of the gospel.
Acts 16:1:
Paul came to Derbe and then to Lystra, where a disciple named Timothy lived, whose mother was Jewish and a believer but whose father was a Greek.
2 Timothy 1:3-5:
I thank God, whom I serve, as my ancestors did, with a clear conscience, as night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. Recalling your tears, I long to see you, so that I may be filled with joy. I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.
