REVIVAL: MAKING AMERICA SPIRITUALLY GREAT
2 Chronicles 7:14
This Fourth of July will mark America’s 244th birthday. However, instead of celebrating America’s Independence, many are doing all they can to destroy our country.
As with any nation (name one), America’s history contains the GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY. However, trying to erase our history through the destruction of monuments and memorials, doesn’t change anything from our past. Instead of erasing our past, we need to learn from it so that we as a nation will never repeat the sins of our forefathers.
In writing the Corinthian church (1 Corinthians 10:1-10), the apostle Paul refers to the past of the nation of Israel as they left Egyptian bondage and wandered in the wilderness for 40 years because of their sins and lack of faith, and how God had punished them. Paul writes, “These things happened to them as EXAMPLES and were written down as WARNINGS for us…” (1 Corinthians 10:11).
WE ARE TO LEARN FROM OUR PAST HISTORY!
Our nation needs REVIVAL! America is hurting. We hear the mantra: “Make America Great Again”, but America will never be GREAT until we return to God. Only God can make America great!
The formula for greatness is found in 1 Chronicles 7:14: “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my Face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land.”
